Very good hunting is available in Okanogan County, which is 80% public land. Deer, cougar and bear hunting are very good. Okanogan and Douglas Counties have the largest herd of Mule Deer in the state of Washington.
The Game Department manages 7,000 acres of upland game bird areas along the Columbia River, featuring Quail, Hungarian Partridge, Chucker and Pheasants.
There is very fine Duck and Goose hunting along the Columbia River.
An area that is underutilized for duck and goose hunting is the nearby Colville Reservation. There are dozens of ponds and small lakes that provide very good hunting. You will need a Colville Reservation hunting permit, in addition to the Washington State / Federal licenses and stamps.
