One boat launch is located near the confluence on the North East side of the Methow River. The other one is located in the town of Pateros, about 400 yards upriver from the Pateros Lakeshore Inn. There are additional boat launches down river between Pateros and Wells Dam, on the highway side of the river. There is another boat launch in the town of Brewster, below the bridge. Safety Comment: The water just above the Brewster Bridge is very shallow in the Brewster Flat area. Go slow and be cautious, until you learn the channel.
Horseback riding is available at the West end of Alta Lake. Enjoy a scenic ride through Antoine Canyon.
Swimming is available at the Alta Lake State Park, located three miles from here. Proceed two miles up highway 20, turn west and follow the signs. The park has a great swimming beach and day use picnic area.
Besides good fishing, Alta Lake State Park has a great hiking trail that takes you part way up Billy Goat Mountain. The trail provides a spectacular view of the lower Methow and Columbia valleys.
Part of the charm of Pateros is the small-town feel and easy access to the public tennis court, kid's playground, and beach.
Lots of miles of groomed trails are available in Okanogan County. Two nearby areas would be Black Canyon, (8 miles up highway 20 on the West side) and Gold Creek (16 miles up highway 20 on the West side). You can access many more miles of trails from these two draws.
